Actually it was fun.

As many of you know, I moved to a new city a couple of years ago and work billions of hours. So, I don't know any musicians around here.

The company I work for is building a new facility in Frederick Maryland, about 70 miles from my apartment. I have to frequent there a lot since I'm the person who will be responsible for this facility when it's finished.

In my travels I stumbled apon a bar that puts on a pretty good "BLUES" open mic night on Sundays. Last night I went there and played a set.

I was a little stiff on the first tune, and drropped a stick on the second. After that I actually played pretty well. It was simple stuff, blues standards mostly, but it felt great to play. Besides, it's a way to meet some musicians from all over. There were people from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland that came there to play. There was a 14 year old kid there with his father playing an ES335, That kid was a great guitarist.

I wish I could find a great guitarist. Argh!

Nothing wrong with jam nights at all! Sure, they don't pay. But it's fun, relaxed, you don't have to load-in or set up, and if you're really lucky, you might meet a real musician every once in a while.

He's 14! I told his dad that if he needs a drummer, count me in...
