Have a custom drum company make you one for that price.  It will sound just as nice seeing as most of the sound will be coming only fromt he heads. :)

To be honest, part of the reason I backed off the thought that I was only bidding because it was made of floor plates!

Would have been cool though. I have tried the one at the local drum shop - man is it loud and tight! But for £700 it can stay there

Yeah. Although the snare sound on St. Anger is a bit mixed - it may just be me. Still - doesn't detract from the quality of the snare.

But when you are talking about expensive drums - the bell brass is listed at £2000! Now that is expensive!
