80% of drinkers at the bar are over .08% BAL...easy pickins...I've been real lucky..since I've had "the gold card"...I've never been popped. also.. I never drink while playing because I can't and it's unprofessional.

Good for you Lee.

I've had the good fortune to never have that issue.

My brother Paul (the guitarist) has been clean and sober since the early 1980s. When he wasn't, he showed me dangers of alcohol up close and personal.

My oldest brother and my sister unfortunately have never conquered their demons and are both raging alcoholics, although both are (mostly) functioning.

Neither of my parents were drinkers, but I had alcoholic aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.

Playing in bars and dealing with drunks for 30 years also kept me responsible that way.

I was very lucky.

My father died from alcoholism only 6 years ago. I miss him dearly Upset

I know how good my father felt when he was sober - when he would stay sober for a good while.

I have never been addicted badly, but I have tendencies that could easily get out of control if I'm not careful. I am so thankful I have a great wife and kids. They give me purpose to take care of myself.

For me it was a slippery slope. Dank more and more.... got a DUI and quit for a few years... then started again with a bit a wine during dinner..then after work... then back to beer....

Been COMPLETELY sober for slightly over 5 years and it has been great.. I see the drunks just about every weekend when I play in the band and think about how much better I will feel in the morning that they will

sorry lee Upset Its seems most of your inspirations to not get to drunk or addicted are family and something dramatic that happens. Lee question for you.

If you drink a beer or two is it fairly difficult to tell your self to stop and actually do it?

Lee couldn't have said it better...my sentiments exactly..I'm in the twilight zone of enjoying a drink or 3 in social events when I don't have to drive..but still stupid enough to get a hangover every once in a while...I'll wise up one of these days..for now, I love the taste of a well made Margarita.

I've learnt (after many years) to enjoy my two drinks separately as Tooheys Old and red wine don't go really well togetherPleased
