Focus For GCSE Music

Hey, I'm a female drummer from england and I've been playing about 4 years, I'm 15. I need to do a 'focus' for my GCSE music project and I need to choose 3 peices of music to do with the focus. Something like Disco Drumming, Salsa Drumming, Drum beats using double bass pedals, Rock beats not in 4/4. Stuff like that.

Wondering if anyone had any good ideas of what to do. I also have to compose a peice in this style...:-S im into, hardcore, emo, metal, old metal, thrash, death metal, alt rock, classic rock, punk, ska etc etc.

And wondering if anyone could suggest some ace drummers or peices of music to check out!

cheers, ella xxx

For GCSE they probably want to see a wide range of skills, so make sure you pick three completely different styles of music to play if you can.

What grade are you roughly so I can suggest some good things to play?

General Certificate of Secondary Education
it's what we have here in England. The exams you take when you are 16.

I can't pick 3 different styles they all have to be in one style or focus so I can compare the 3 songs and then compose my own peice using that style or focus.
I'm roughly Grade 5 ... actually i really don't know cos i havnt taken drum lessons for a while due to lack of money and I never did Grades anyway. But the last drum thing i remember doing with my teacher was a Grade 5 peice.

Have you heard "The Crunge" by Led Zeppelin - it's on "Houses Of The Holy"?  That's in about 4 different time signatures - so could fit your requirements.  There is a score for it in a book called "The Complete Led Zeppelin" I think.  It's mental and very funky to play.  My daughter's 8 and started learning the drums at Christmas with her 6 year old brother - we need more female drummers.  Stick at it and I hope you do will in you GCSE's.
