"Moongel is a damping product just like the EC2 ring so if you can't hear your toms how do expect your audience to hear them?"

i was exaggerating, of course i can still here my drums with moongel on them.....Err...
anyhoo
In your other thread about heads you said you play unmiked rock gigs?
the point i have been trying and failing to make is that in that sort of gig, from the audiences perspective, it really doesnt matter what heads you put on your kit.
there are so many other variables that will affect what they hear out front the subtle differences between a 1 or 2 ply head, dampened or otherwise head become irrelevant.
if your really worried they wont here your toms mic them, but unless your playing massive venues or recording your gig i wouldnt bother.

like i said at the top, any head tuned to the drums 'sweet spot' will 'work'.
i personally dont like pre dampned heads, i prefer to carry a pack of moongel and throw one of them on if needed
