but I went to a party where there was a band playing. Watching the drummer, I noticed he was using triggers on an acoustic set. He had his drums filled with bubble wrap, except for the kick. After the first set, I told him that his kick wasn't audible, which made him frantically fiddle with it. No matter what he did, it got little better as he was having problems with the bass guitar triggering his kit. I've since learned that kicks don't trigger well, that a mic works way better for the kick. The dude sang well, though!

I'm with you Rich. Drums should be acoustic or you just as well use a drum machine.

I've seen clips of Pat behind his V-Drums and I played Dennis' V Drum kit when he had it, so I get the allure of electronics.

I see it as almost a different instrument, much like the difference between acoustic and electric guitar. I may explore it some day. I'm very interested in your electronic adventure Phil.

I think it's more to keep the volume on stage down and get a better mix.

The drummer for Garbage does that and when I saw them the sounded great. But yeah why lug all those drums around if there's no sound coming from them? Confused V Drums would be better.
