Or in my case for Kwanhanamas...

My middle son bought me Hendrix's Electric Ladyland (my vinyl was worn out) and Arthur Blythe's Lenox Ave Breakdown.

I listened to Electric Ladyland last night. I forgot how great that recording is. Stands up 40 years later.

The Arthur Blythe album will only be listened to when I'm home alone. Great stuff, but not for faint of heart.

Did anyone else get some noteworthy recordings?

I got a Harry Connick Junior CD called "Come by me".

And I also got NOW that's what I call music #24. I already had 1-23, plus 25 and 26. It's the only one I was missing. It's hardly noteworthy though. I collected them in my DJ days and never stopped.

I didn't get a CD, but I'm expecting to receive the 2 DVD set from Eric Clapton's Guitar Festival in Chicago this past summer. I saw some of it on a public TV fundraiser and its great stuff. Everyone from B.B. King to Jeff Beck - dozens of great guitarists. And Luke, there was this 20 year old female bass player from Australia who played with Jeff Beck who was just amazing! I'll try to remember to post the name when the DVD comes. She didn't look a day over 16, but she also has quite a stage presence. - I also have the DVD from the 2006 festival. Clapton does them to raise money for his drug rehab clinic. - Al

The name of that young woman on bass with Jeff Beck was Tal Wilkenfeld. She has a solo CD out named Transformation. She's just incredible for 21 years old (or any age)!- Al

Aussie born bassist Tal Wilkenfeld moved to the USA 5 years ago, and has since played with such luminary musicians as Jeff ‘Tain' Watts, Mike and Leni Stern, Marcus Miller, Susan Tedeschi & Richard Bona. On her debut, Tal offers you 7 intricate and original jazz fusion tracks with WAYNE KRANTZ on guitar, KEITH CARLOCK on drums, GEOFFREY KEEZER on Piano, and SEAMUS BLAKE on tenor sax.

Some of these were given to me, some I bought myself (record store going out of business... 40% off!)

Muse - Black Holes and Revlations (my brother has it... needed my own copy)
Muse - Showbiz
Platypus - Lazaretto (duo from NYC, given to me by the band for promotion)
Blue Rodeo - Small Miracles
The Hives - new album, I forget the name

My brother and I got my dad a 30th anniversary 180g virgin vinyl edition of Dark Side of the Moon. It's the only monster album he's been missing from his collection all these years.

Between my dad, brother, and myself, we accumulated 13 albums this Christmas!

I want a nice CD collection! Pleased
I bought a CD to start the collection as I no longer download music now, it was Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos. My next purchase will be Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon! Pleased

My dad had an amazing collection when I was young, but 300 CD's were stole from him when he was burgeled. I think he has about 200+ now! Pleased

Even if he already owns one of the CD's that I plan to buy, I'm still wanting a copy of my own! Pleased

CD related question - Where do you keep your cd's?
Do you have a CD stacker thing or are they on a shelf or in a cupboard?
