DW9000 kick pedal (personal opinion)

For what this is worth...

I have been playing the Powershifter for close to a year and I just switched to the DW9000.  I loved the "red" aggressive cam but I could never seem to find a comfortable spot on the footboard so i felt that the pedal would fight me a bit.  This is a personal reflection and should be considered only my opinion.

I sat down on a throne at the drum shop for an hour or so and went through the pedals just to see what felt right to me.  I had it in my mind I was going to purchase the Iron Cobras because I just finished a recording session where the kit had them and they felt great to me.  I resisted the temptation to try the DW9000 at first because I despised of the DW5000.  I played that for a while and the pedal fought me every step of the way.  After much testing the guy that worked there, whom I trust from several great reccomendations in the past, I sat down with the DW9000.  He even put it on the same kick that I own to try it out.  That was the feel I was looking for.  It seemed so natural...with a great balance between feel and power.  i bought it on the spot.  Practice yesterday went great.  The band noticed a more powerful kick sound, and I had tremendous confidence in my foot playing.  I would equate it to holding the sticks "correctly"...sure you can play holding the drumsticks however you want...but when you get it right you have maximum control and speed.

Thanks for the review.

I have been thinking about getting the DW9000 to replace my DW5000.

Glad to hear you like it so well.
