Two cracked cymbals... what a day. The one is cracked around with the groove so I've drilled holes and epoxied it shut. The other has a small but growing crack, cracking inward form the edge. It hasn't changed the sound too much so I'm deciding on whether or not to nip the problem in the butt now and epoxy it thus changing the sound. Or let it grow until it screws the sound over and epoxy it then... decisions decisions...

Drill it now. At least if they're drilled out they won't get worse, and you can keep them as practice instruments.

Make sure they can move on the stand as well.

already drilled, they both still sound pretty good. It's not really a question of technique, they didn't crack on the same day, I was just fixing them at the same time. One of them actually belongs to a friend of mine and it was cracked when he got it and the other was my only cymbal for a really, really long time, so it took four times the abuse it should have.

I've had cymbals for 10 years that never cracked, if you play them right they can last a long time.

does depend alot on the quality of cymbal and the stand its on.....but on the whole i agree that there maybe a technique issue
