Let me start at the begining...

When I first started playing I bought Zildjian "A"s and Paiste 2002s. Eventually I discovered Paiste Signatures and put together a full setup of them. Zildjian "K"s followed.

I never was interested in Sabians as I thought they were esentially rebadged Zildjians.

Crash (Phil) got my attention with his almost religious devotion to Sabian. Then last year I won the AAX 18" China and 10" AAX splash and it was almost as if I were destined to try Sabians. So I did.

I put together a nice set of AAXs which I really like. Now I'm a little more than halfway through buying a full HHX setup. For years every few weeks I've pulled down a Paiste set and put up a Zildjian set or vice-versa. Funny thing, since I put Sabians on the big kit, I haven't setup Zildjians or Paistes on that drumset. I'm happy with them and just not getting bored.

I've been switching back and forth on the small kit still, but the DWs have remained all Sabian. (Currently it's a mix of AAX and HHX on the DWs.)

So, two weeks ago I met Mark Schulman at Greenbrier and we talked some about endorsements. He said nice things about his Gretsch kit and Vic Firth, but when he talked about his Sabians his eyes lit up. He clearly has some of that same Sabian religion that Phil has. Interesting.

So now I came across this...

http://sabian.com/EN/products/cymbal_refresh.cfm

Sabian provides a service where they will "refresh" your cymbals. Clean them, apply new logos or apply a brilliant finish. It's a $40 flat fee including shipping. THAT is pretty freaking cool.

I now am starting to understand Phil and Mark more.
