I know you don't drink...but the two times in my past when my band got stiffed, we asked if we could just go ahead and practice for free beers.

We ended up doing a "three set" practice, worked out a hand full of new tunes (mistakes and all), enjoyed a few free beers, instigated an "open-mic" jam, and made some new friends.

Sometimes you can turn a kick-in-da-nutz into a positive experience.

...sometimes!

Not a good thing to do since it tells the bar that what they did was kinda ok..Argh!

We just left.. The work is hauling and setting up the gear... the playing is the fun part. Screw that bar....I found it funny that they offered us more gigs... like we would do that... so they could decide at the last minute that they did not have a crowd and then cancel. Overall, I am sure that will hurt their business when the customers come expecting a band and there is not one there. Our agent also found out that they had done the same thing to another band (not one he books) a few weeks prior.

As to trying to sue the bar... yeah we could sure do that and most likely win..but then collecting on the judgement is a different story. All over $400 total... We will just view it as a lesson learned.

Once a bar shits on enough bands and customers, I think it will take care of itself.

We have plenty gigs, so losing one is not a big deal.
