i dont think they dont charge for importing over here. i just ordered a phone faceplate from singapore. cost me 2 bucks to ship it here.

No - only local sales tax (which you may or may not really have to pay, but the shop will probably charge you for it anyway).

The exise will then charge you VAT at 17.5% for the joy of buying something from the US while you were in the UK

None of this applies if the country you are buying from is inside the EU due to our single trade agreements!

Ok, too complicated, I think it evens out after all the taxes anyway.  Shame .  I'll just buy it here, on the apple website it's £300 for a new gen.

as crap as it is, on a wider level its a good thing for our economy that the majority of money spent on 'consumer' items is spent in this country not abroad. which is the reason for the Tax fest on personal imports.

I know - it just gets me that Premier kits are cheaper in the US than the Uk - they are made in Leicter!!!!
