I have a pretty serious CD collection which numbers about 1,100 or so. Most of my collection is Rock, although pop, blues, jazz, and country are also represented.

Jackie is a widow. Here late husband was 20 years her senior and passed away about four years ago. His hobby was collecting jazz. Jackie still has all of his CDs. I have felt odd about looking through them but tonight I finally checked them out.

Wow. I'm guessing his CD collection is somewhere in the thousand CD range as well and it is 100% jazz. Just glancing through it I picked out CDs by Art Blakely and the Jazz Messengers, Max Roach, Louie Bellson, and Gene Krupa.

I'm listening to Bellson now.

I just really just glanced through it, but it is very serious. I'm impressed by his taste in music. Of course he had great taste in women.Pleased

As more and more CD and DVD collections disappear to become digital files, you wonder how obscure it will be in 10 or 15 years to actually have a CD/DVD collection.

Jackie's collection is digital. She doesn't understand my attachment to the actual disks.

"Digital can be wiped away, disks are for ever" and discs can breakDevilish anyway. that is a really nice sounding taste in jazz if his first few things were art blakey and krupa. Where are these "thousands" of cd's stored. that is the only problem with cd's that I have?

If this band was a person, it would be president. If this band was visual art, it would be the main attraction at Louvre. If this band was a book, it would be holier than the bible.

I have a wall unit that holds a thousand. Right now mine are all in (U-Haul) boxes awaiting me to move them over to Jackie's place.

Her late husband's are packed up as well.

One amusing side note, I keep all of these in alphapetical order by artist, and then in order of release date.

My records are divided by genre (rock & pop/jazz/classical) and then ordered alphabetically by last name or group name.

I have probably 100-150 CDs, and probably twice that in vinyl.

But I agree that having something physical to hold on to is really nice.

Digital and physical both have their advantages, and their place.
