My two nylon tipped sticks feel and look fine, so I hit stick one on my knee for fun, and it makes a kind of buzzing sound!  I hit stick 2 on my knee, and it makes a dull thud sound as it should.  whats this buzzing? Im guessing a split in the wood inside the stick?

The stick has been cracked.  Play it on your ride cymbal.  Compare the two sticks on your ride cymbal.  You will notice a difference in the feel.  The stick is simply broken.
