| Wow, everyone’s so… hostile. Abused, tortured and enraged by all the spammers and scammers out there. Ok, so I did put a link to my auction on a few drummer’s forums. So, I’m sorry if I engaged in an act of spam. Well, I was my first time ever, as an evil spammer, and I didn’t know what I was in for. I wasn’t prepared for finding a bullseye on my ass. Not everyone was joining in on the public stoning, though- some posters were actually nice, believe it or not.
The whole point was, I’m trying to get money to buy more Sabian Legacy cymbals. I’ve got one, a 17” crash, and heard a bunch of others in the stores, and I LOVE ‘em. I’ve developed a serious jones for more Dave Weckl (dark) design. I’m definitely getting the 14” HHX high hats next. When I find some money, that is.
The practice pads were given to me long ago, and I’ve never used them. I’ve always thought the whole point of drums was to get LOUD, or at least dynamic. Playing without accents, tone, and pitch is like nothing but rudiments to me. Boring. While pads aren’t my thing, I know of other drummers who swear by them, one in particular who lives in a NYC apartment building. As a drummer who used to face regular evictions due to noise complaints, I can see his point. I thought I was doing something like a service. Sorrr-ryy

| | My name's Alan, and I live in upstate New York. I've been playing drums since I was seven, which works out to 37 years, as I'm 44 now. I don't have a band currently, but I'm seeking one. My day job is as a sound engineer. Yes, I wait on musicians. When you start banging on that snare drum before soundcheck, that's my head right there under the snare drum. I was adjusting the second snare mic under the snare. There goes my car-ear(s)... | | Message posted 2072 days ago | IP Logged |
