I had just read that there was a section here for introducing ones-self...I had just realized after hitting the century mark in posts that I hadnt actually done that.  Pardon my manners boys....

My name is Rick, I am 37 years young from Cleveland Ohio - My playing experience started at the tender young age of 8.  I watched my uncle playing his set of vintage ludwigs a few times enough to know that that was what I wanted to do.  He talked me into going to take drum lessons and after 2 years of that - I decided to listen to Zeppelin to speed up the process.  I played in a few bands in the Cleveland area and after realizing that I didnt want to be broke and sleeping in my buddies cars at 30, decided to go back to school for an engineering degree.  Good decision - maybe not - but at the time, looked better than starving.  Somedays, I wish I would have starved - seems like I changed one form of prison for another.

I bought and gutted a house in 2000, bought my Pearl Masters Birch in Midnight Fade and set it up in my newly renovated studio in the center room of the house.  My wife and her new Korg Triton 88 are getting ready to start recording and building a working band - with players, not sequences.  I will keep you all posted on the status of that effort.

Currently, I am working on designing a unique type of octoban and will be building a prototype here shortly - look for them on Ebay soon.

Welcome old new one. At 37, I'd say you'd qualify for membership in the "drum world old farts club" (I'm a charter member myself at 39.)

You're house setup sounds just what I've always wanted. I'll have it one day for sure, but I'm still trying to make ends meet right now.

Hmmmm. Good question. I suppose 30 years would be considered "old fart" on here. Or in other words, if you're old enough to remember disco, you'd be an old fart. (That means you, Rich!)

Maybe we should get a consensus though...SBL138223.8873032407
