Bob and I play at the same bar every Friday now during happy hour, actually for a couple of hours.

On Tuesday nights the same bar has a group host an open mike night. It'a singer/guitarist named Johnny Holiday, a bass player and a drummer. I sat in with them a couple times last summer.

Tonight that bar held an event to raise money to buy toys and clothes for underpriveledged children. Bob and I played from 5:00 until 8:00 and Johnny Holiday was doing his thing from 8:00 until 11:00. Johnny's drummer has been having issues and couldn't make the gig. I was tearing down and he asked me if I'd stay and back him with the percussion setup... So I did.

It went really well.

So Johnny asked me if I wanted to join hin from now on every Tuesday night...

I am.

I think I'm officially a percussionist now.

It's funny how things work out.

A few moths ago I got the crazy ides to buy for a conga or two. My thought at the time was to just try something different.

I looked for a while before I stumbled onto these beautiful LPs. Hiring George Guest to teach me tradition playing styles has also made a big difference in getting me heading in the right dirrection.

So now I find myself playing out a couple times per week doing hand percussion. I didn't see this coming, but I'm greatful for every day I get to play.

Thanks to all of you for your support.
