In 1906 Toomas Paiste created his first Cymbals. Toomas Paiste was a Estonian musician who initially worked in a musical instrument repair shop in St. Petersburg in Russia. Before having worked in the musical instrument repair shop, Toomas served in the Czarist Guard before retiring in 1901.
The company has had a mobile life, and has been severely inconvenienced by wars. In 1917 Paiste was forced to move to Talinn, in Estonia. Michael Paiste (Toomas’ son) at this point started to focus Paiste on production and export to maximise business opportunity.
Paiste moved to Poland in 1940, and had to run the company under hard conditions.
In 1945 the company moved again into Germany, before finally in 1957 Paiste settled in Switzerland and established it’s new headquarters.
Michael’s sons, Toomas and Robert then took over runnings in Switzerland.
