Company Background
Multialloy is a company that provides solutions in high performance metals for industries of the most varied sectors. It was founded in 1985, and for six years, ever since 1988, it supplied the raw material for manufacturing cymbals for another Brazilian brand. In 1988, Multialloy researched and developed the founding and lamination of bronze plates with its own specifications for the manufacturing of B8 (CuSn8) bronze musical cymbals.
In 1995, it created a partnership agreement, and for four years lines of instruments were developed and commercialized under its partner’s brand. With the conclusion of the partnership regime, the companies went their separate ways, which permitted Multialloy to create, develop and explore its own brand.
Thus, in 1999, Orion Cymbals was created as a musical division for Multialloy, with the setting up of its own industrial and commercial structures. That same year, there was a revision of die molds manufactured from new machines for the production of the Twister, Solo Pro and Solo Pro Master lines, products that already existed and that came from the old partnership, but that were now reformulated using Orion Cymbals’ recipe.
The next year, in 2000, Orion cymbals were making their presence known at the three largest international musical instrument fairs: NAMM in the United States, of which it is a member (as well as the Brazilian Anafim and Abemúsica), Musikmesse, in Germany, and Expomusic, in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2001, the musician Bacalhau (Ultraje a Rigor) was hired to work in product development, creating the research and development sector.
As a result of this work, Orion Cymbals currently has more than ten lines of cymbals and more than one hundred different models, as well as metals for percussion, exporting around 25% of its entire production to more than 50 countries.
